ARPF Achievements
ARPF 2018
Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and staff, the American River Parkway Foundation can celebrate numerous accomplishments in 2018:
  • 5,221 volunteers donated 15,830 hours to the Parkway, worth an amazing total of $460,494.70*
  • Volunteers removed 100,705 pounds of trash and pulled 150,102 invasive plants
  • 1,903 disadvantaged youth experienced the Parkway through the Campfire Outdoor Educational Site
  • 68,000 "Mutt Mitt" dog waste removal bags were purchased to stock 17 stations along the Parkway
  • Volunteers, interns and staff cleared more than 9 miles of the equestrian/hiking trail
  • Fly Fishing Specialties joined our ranks selling Parks Passes, bringing the total to 27 vendors throughout Sacramento
  • 10 interns joined us throughout the year to learn about environmental science, events, marketing and fundraising

In December, 665 volunteers braved the cold weather to remove 12,591 lbs of trash and 5,093 invasive plants (including red sesbania and broom) from the American River Parkway! Groups joined us from Intel, Sacramento Country Day School and West Campus High School for cleanups on the Parkway. December 2018

ARPF Champion
Our volunteers are the champions of our programs! Volunteers dedicate hours to removing trash and invasive plants, restoring park infrastructure, clearing trails, helping at events, entering computer data and more.

Our volunteer Mile Stewards dedicate 4,213 hours in 2018 to removing trash, graffiti, and abandoned camps from the American River Parkway. Volunteers from the general public also joined us for monthly, site-specific cleanups and our annual Great American River Cleanup. These cleanups removed an astonishing 100,705 pounds of trash and debris from the Parkway in 2018.
