TEICHERT-Parkway Fund

 The American River Parkway Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the Teichert-Parkway Fund.

A. Teichert & Son (TEICHERT), headquartered along the north levee of the American River, elected to provide sustained funding for a Grants Program to enhance the American River Parkway habitat and user experience. In partnership with Sacramento County Regional Parks and administered by the American River Parkway Foundation, grant funding occurs annually.

Below is a list of grants distributed through the TEICHERT Parkway Fund

Awardees:

2021     Soil Born Farm                               20,000

To develop walking paths and signage

Sacramento County Office of Education        20,000

To develop a Continuum of Education on the Parkway

2022     Sacramento Running Association      80,000

To develop a high school college and cross country course in the Cal Expo area

Archery                                               25,000

Install new archery targets and redevelop the old archery course

2024      Triangle Properties                      58,000

To create a native plant landscape adjacent to the cross country course.

The funding available through generous donations from Teichert through their gravel mining operations is being made available through a competitive grant process. Details are below.

All proposals for grants under $100,000 that fall within the requirements provided will be considered.

Application Process. Those interested in submitting a grant proposal should first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) form. The proposals should reflect one or more of the following two categories:

  • Restoration- enhancement of vegetation on the Parkway
  • Infrastructure -updating kiosks, benches, shade structures, fishing pier

The LOI should include the following information:

  • Name, Organization, and contact information.
  • Purpose and need for funding.
  • Amount of funds requested.
  • Evaluation of the proposed project.
  • Duration of the proposed project.
  • Outline budget.

The LOI should not be longer than two typed pages, with an additional page for the budget.

Before submitting your LOI, please read the American River Parkway Foundation Grant Application Guidelines to determine if funding requirements can be met.

Timeline.

  • The 2025 grant application period is open from 01 April 2025,
  • Letters of Intent (LOI) are due no later than May 24, 2025. After a review of the LOI, those selected will be invited to complete a full grant application.
  • The full grant application is due by September 20, 2025
  • Funding announcements will occur by November 2025
