Corporate Volunteers
Teambuilding for Community Impact
Volunteering in the American River Parkway is the perfect way for your team to bond and enjoy a fun, active day outdoors with purpose!
Did you know volunteering helps employees become healthier both physically and mentally? This benefits employers, too! According to the UnitedHealth Group’s 2013 study, Doing Good is Good for You, “Employees who experience lower levels of stress are more present and engaged, which further reduces health care costs and elevates on-the-job performance.”
ARPF can help your team give back to Sacramento! The Parkway Foundation regularly works with businesses to put on volunteer events such as river cleanups, invasive plant removal, trail maintenance, infrastructure repairs/rebuilding projects, and special events. These are great team-building opportunities!
Tell us more about your group’s interests by filling out the Corporate Interest Form* and our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch!
*Note: Please submit your request at least 4 weeks before your preferred workday.
ADDITIONAL CORPORATE OPPORTUNITIES
Do-It-Yourself: Adopt-A-Mile
In 1993, the Parkway Foundation founded the “Adopt-the-Parkway” initiative. “Mile Stewards” adopt each of the 23 miles of Parkway along both banks of the river.
There are two types of Mile Stewards – volunteer and financial. Both are recognized on a Parkway sign located along the paved bike trail of “their” mile. There are 46 Volunteer Mile Stewards and 46 Financial Mile Stewards along the Parkway.
Volunteer Mile Stewards make a two-year commitment to serve at least 20 volunteer hours on their mile each quarter. Stewards complete clean-up, trail maintenance, weed removal, and report any issues on their mile.
Financial Mile Stewards/Sponsors make a two-year commitment to contribute $1,500 per year. This contribution covers the hard costs of the volunteer mile stewardship (volunteer coordination, tools, and equipment, for example) that includes trash removal, invasive plants management, and trail maintenance.
For more information, please visit our Mile Stewards program page or contact us at 916-486-2773.
