Pups in the Park

Join us in making a difference for our communities by sponsoring the Pups in the Park program!

Our Pups in the Park program is designed to raise awareness, promote responsible pet ownership and focus efforts on reducing dog waste in our waterways. Generously sponsored by donors and managed by the American River Parkway Foundation, the Pups in the Park program provides over 85,000 mutt mitts annually to dispensers along the Parkway. By using these handy bags, responsible pet owners like you help prevent over 8 tons of dog waste from entering our environment and waterways each year.

How you can help

  • Pick up after your pet: it’s simple, easy and makes a big difference
  • Use Mutt Mitt Stations: We’ve installed 20 convenient mutt mitt stations throughout the Parkway to make cleanup after your pet effortless
  • Join our new B.A.R.K Ranger Program: Become a B.A.R.K Ranger by pledging to follow these simple rules:
    • Bag your pet’s waste
    • Always keep your pet on a leash
    • Respect wildlife and other parkway users
    • Know where your pet can go
  • Spread the word: Encourage fellow pet owners to join the effort!
Thank you to all our amazing Pups in the Park sponsors. Through their support, sponsors play a vital role in helping us protect the American River Parkway and keep our waterways dog waste free. To learn more about our B.A.R.K program or sponsorship, please click here or email ntanimoto@arpf.org.
